SEGG Conference in Zaragoza

M. Joao Forjaz presenting

In a conference from the 12th to the 14th of June, M. Joao Forjaz presented the QASP investigation. She explained the objective and methods, as well as gave preliminary results that support the investigation hypothesis.

Preliminary results for both countries

These preliminary results show that participation and health have a large impact on quality of life, which gives more motivation to work on the investigation since the hypothesis is supported. Through this, initial analyses can be made.

The conclusions reached were this:

  1. The two components of the health pillar (functional deterioration and poorer general health) were significant predictors of quality of life after a 4 year follow up in both Spain and Portugal

  2. Participation and Security were predictors in the model of Spain but not in Portugal

  3. Measures to promote health and improve functional capacity

  4. Measures that promote greater participation of older people in activities, especially Spain
